Day 1: Kampala – Kisoro via Masaka Highway

Your adventure begins early in the morning with a scenic drive from Kampala along the Masaka highway. The first stop is at the Uganda Equator, where you can take photos and enjoy a cup of coffee before continuing the journey. By midday, you’ll arrive in Mbarara town for lunch before proceeding through rolling hills, lush farmlands, and the breathtaking Kigezi Highlands.

The drive offers stunning panoramas of southwestern Uganda, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.” In the evening, you’ll arrive in Kisoro, with the dramatic Virunga volcanoes forming a majestic backdrop. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge in Kisoro.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Lake Mutanda Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, head to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for the highlight of your safari, gorilla trekking. Accompanied by experienced rangers, you will venture into the bamboo forests and volcanic slopes in search of a gorilla family. Along the way, keep an eye out for other primates, including golden monkeys, as well as bird species and unique vegetation.

The moment you encounter the gorillas, led by a powerful silverback, is nothing short of magical. You’ll spend up to an hour observing them in their natural habitat before making your way back.
