Your day begins with a pick-up from your residence and a drive to the iconic Gaddafi Mosque, one of Africa’s largest mosques. Here, you will marvel at its stunning Islamic architecture, learn about the history of Islam in Uganda, and climb the towering minaret for a 360-degree view of Kampala’s seven hills.

From there, the tour continues to Bulange, the Kabaka’s Parliament, an important political and cultural landmark of the Buganda Kingdom. With a guided narration, you will gain fascinating insights into Buganda’s governance system, traditions, and history. Afterward, you will enjoy a walk down the Royal Mile, lined with statues made of clay that represent the different clans of the Baganda people, each with its own story.

The walk leads to the Kabaka’s Palace, a site rich with political, religious, and cultural history. Here you will hear stories of Uganda’s pre- and post-independence struggles and visit the infamous Idi Amin torture chambers, a chilling reminder of the country’s turbulent past.

By lunchtime, you will enjoy a traditional Ugandan dish, luwombo, famously prepared in banana leaves. This hearty meal provides an authentic cultural experience and a taste of Buganda’s culinary heritage.

In the afternoon, you will proceed to the Kabaka’s Lake, a man-made wonder created by the Buganda kingdom in the late 19th century. The lake has both cultural and historical significance, with fascinating stories tied to its construction.

The journey continues to the Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the burial grounds of Buganda’s kings. Here, you will learn about the royal lineage, architectural symbolism, and the spiritual traditions of the kingdom.

To conclude the tour, you will head to the serene Bahá’í Temple in Kisaasi, the only one of its kind in Africa. Surrounded by lush gardens and offering a peaceful atmosphere, it is a perfect place to wind down the day with quiet reflection and scenic beauty. After this final stop, you will be dropped off at your residence in Kampala, ending a day rich in history, culture, and discovery.
