3-DAY QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK SAFARI ITINERARY


Embark on a memorable 3-day safari experience to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited and ecologically diverse wildlife reserve. Spanning approximately 1,978 square kilometers, this park is situated in the western region of the country, about 376 kilometers from Kampala. It features a rich variety of ecosystems, including shimmering lakes, the Kazinga Channel, expansive savannahs, tropical forests, and verdant wetlands.


Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your adventure begins early in the morning. After enjoying a hearty breakfast at your hotel, your professional safari guide will pick you up at 7:30 AM for a scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a journey that takes approximately six hours. En route, enjoy brief stopovers at key landmarks. The first will be at the Equator, where you’ll have an opportunity to capture memorable photos. A second stop will be in Mbarara for a delightful lunch at Agip Motel. Continue your journey through captivating landscapes featuring open grasslands, the iconic Ankole long-horned cattle, lush tea plantations, the dramatic Rift Valley Escarpment, and various woodlands. On arrival at the park in the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a brief game drive as you make your way to your lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise

Begin your day with a warm cup of coffee or tea before setting out on an early morning game drive, exploring various park trails including the renowned Kasenyi plains. This trail offers excellent wildlife sightings such as waterbucks, Uganda kobs, elephants, buffaloes, lions, warthogs, and a variety of bird species.

Return to the lodge for a full breakfast and relax before lunch. In the afternoon, delight in a two-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway linking Lake George and Lake Edward. The cruise offers fantastic opportunities to spot hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, and other animals along the banks. Birdlife is also abundant, with sightings of species such as malachite kingfishers and pink-backed pelicans.

After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Return to Kampala

Following a satisfying breakfast, check out from your lodge. Optionally, you may participate in a short primate walk within the park to enhance your wildlife experience. Begin your return journey to Kampala with a lunch stop along the way. You will also make a cultural stopover at the Mpambire Drum Centre, where you will witness traditional drum-making by local artisans and have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs.

Continue your journey to Kampala, where you will be dropped off at your hotel in the evening.
